When Should You Perform Istikhara

Perform istikhara is an important act in Islam which is done to seek guidance from Allah Almighty before making any important decision. The word istikhara means looking for good. Asking Allah for mercy in any matter. Istikhara dua means collecting the good and bad things of this world and the hereafter.

Therefore, we need to knock on the door of Malik-ul-Mulk. And there is nothing better, better and more beneficial than prayer, because in prayer Allah is glorified and glorified. After that, a person asks for good and goodness for himself.

Understanding Istikhara

The word istikhara is taken from “Khair”, which means asking for good in a matter. The term istikhara refers to turning to Allah Almighty in the daily lawful deeds and in these works one should ask for goodness and guidance.

Istikhara is a Masnoon act whose method and supplication are proven in the hadiths of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Through Istikhara, a person turns to Allah Almighty and asks for guidance in those tasks in which he is in doubt as to how it would be better to do such and such a task.

As if Istikhara is a request for guidance from God, the answer is not necessarily “yes” or “no”. Clear and quick guidance is determined by the purity,  piety and spiritual status of the istikhara.

When to Perform Istikhara

Istikhara can be done anytime, but here are some particular occasions when istikhara is particularly recommended.

When facing a decision

Istikhara is done when there is a specific decision to be made, such as a decision about the future, marriage or a decision about moving to a place. It is guided by Allah Almighty and the answer is always good.

Before making important decision

When one has to make an important decision about life, it is better to do Istikhara. Just like education, business, relationships, or any other aspect of life that requires guidance.

When feeling conflicted

Istikhara can be very helpful when there is a conflict between two permissible things as to which way to go. Istikhara seeks guidance from Allah and it also calms the mind  and man does what is indicated by Allah.

Trust in Allah’s Decision: 

After performing Istikhara prayer, one should have faith in Allah Almighty and accept the wisdom and mercy of Allah Almighty that whatever result will be better. The plan of Allah Ta’ala should always be kept in the first place because indeed He is the best decision maker.

In the journey of life, a person has to face many difficulties and a person takes many decisions that have a profound impact on his future. Istikhara is not only a means of pleasing Allah, but it also helps a person to make the best decision.
