Man continues to travel in life. The purpose of travel can be anything like job search, education, sightseeing or visiting someone. Travel is also an important part of human life. If the prayers for travelling are recited, then the journey will pass with good health and may Allah have mercy on him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to encourage praying before travelling. Therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim to follow their Sunnah. Before traveling, it is very important to read the Dua for traveling.
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration
Sunhanalla Ze Sakhara Lana Haza Wama Kunna Lahu Muqreneena Wa Inna ilaa rabbina Lamunqalibun.
English Translation
“Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, and we would not have been able to abide by it, and indeed to our Lord we will return”.
Prayers are very important in the life of a Muslim and a true Muslim believes in these prayers. Therefore, he considers it obligatory to recite duas before any purpose. Purpose of Dua for Traveling
Whether a person’s journey is big or short, the purpose of reciting dua is always that the journey goes well and is protected by Allah Almighty. May the human being be safe from calamities and accidents during the journey and may he reach his destination safely. Apart from this, reciting dua strengthens a person’s faith and belief that Allah Almighty has power over everything and by His grace it is possible to reach the destination.

Praying Two Raka’h Before Leaving Home
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to advise to pray two rak’ahs before traveling. The following hadith confirms this. “When you leave your house, pray two rak’ahs, it will protect you from evil, and when you enter your house, pray two rak’ahs, it will protect you from evil.” Therefore, this proves that it is a Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to pray before traveling.
It is narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said. from home Read this dua before leaving .
بِسمِ اللَّهِ، توَكَّلتُ على اللَّهِ، لا حَولَ ولا قوَّةَ إلَّا باللَّهِ
Transliteration
Bismillah E Tawakkaltu Alallahe , LaHaula Wla Quwata illaBillah.
English Translation
“In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah and there is no power but Allah”.

اللَّهُمَّ إنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ في سَفَرِنَا هذا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ العَمَلِ ما تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هذا، وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ في السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ في الأهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَعُوذُ بكَ مِن وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ المَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ المُنْقَلَبِ في المَالِ وَالأهْلِ
Transliteration
Allahumma ina Nas-aluka Fi Safarina haza-l-birri wat-taqwa, wa minal-‘amali ma tarza. Allahumma haviin ‘Alaina Safarana Haza, watwi ‘annan bu’dahu, Allahumma antas-Sahibo fis-safri , wal-khaleefatu fil-ahli. Allahumma inni Ao-‘uzu bika min waghasa-is-safar, wa kabati-manzar, wa su-i-lmunqalabi fil-mal wal-ahle.
English Translation
“O Allah, we ask you in this journey of ours for mercy, and be pleased with our deeds . Oh God, make this journey of ours easy for us, and make it easy for us. Oh God, you are the companion on the journey, and The caliph in the family, O God, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, the gloom of the scene, and the bad situation in money and family”.
اللّـهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّـمَوَاتِ السّـبْعِ وَمَا أَظْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الأَرَاضِيـنَ السّـبْعِ وَما أقْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الشَّيَـاطِينِ وَمَا أَضْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الرِّياحِ وَمَا ذَرَيْـنَ، أَسْـأَلُـكَ خَيْـرَ هذهِ الْقَـرْيَةِ وَخَيْـرَ أَهْلِـهَا، وَخَيْـرَ مَا فِيْهَا، وَأَعُـوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَـرِّها وَشَـرِّ أَهْلِـها، وَشَـرِّ مَا فِيْهَا
Transliteration
Allahumma Rabba-Samawatis-Sabie Wama Azlalna, Wa Rabu-ul Arazeena-Sabie Wama Aqlalna, WaRabbu -Shyateene Wamaa Azlalna, WaRabbu -Riyahe Wamaa Zaraina , Asaluka Kharun Hazihiil Qaryate Wa khairun Ahlihaa, Wa Khairun Ma Feehaa, Wa Auzubika Min Shari Haa Wa Sharran Ahlihaa Wa Sharri Maa Feeha.
English Translation
“O God, Lord of the seven heavens and what they have cast astray, Lord of the seven earths and what they have cast astray, Lord of the devils and what they have misled, Lord of the winds and what they have caused, I ask You are the best of this town, the best of its people, and the best of what is in it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of what is in it”.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Auzu Bekalimatillah e tamaat e Min Sharri Maa khalaq
Translation
I seek refuge in perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
آيبونَ تائبونَ عابدونَ لربِّنا حامِدون
Ayubuna Taibuna Abidun Li-Rabbina Hamidoon
English Translation
“We return, in repentance, worshiping, and praising our Lord”.
Travelling is given great importance in Islam, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to advise people to recite duas for journey, after returning and during the journey.
